How to get my mouse and keyboard to work at the same time?

Open the settings for your trackpad, (you'll confuse tech people if you call it a mouse) they should be sitting in the tray, near the clock on the desktop taskbar, and find the palm check setting or something that sounds like it. Disable it or turn down its sensitivity.
