Can I replace my AMD CPU with Intel?

I wanted to ask if I could replace my AMD FX-8320 CPU with an intel core i5 or core i7(preferably core i5)

Specs of my PC:

16GB RAM
Amd radeon r7 200 series (1gb vram)
1 tb Hard drive
amd fx-8320 cpu

I hear that AMD processors put off a lot of heat, and I'm starting to believe that since I've had this PC for six months and it has heated my room up so much, as well as the CPU area getting Really hot.(even when I'm not playing a demanding game) Also, the PC is custom built.

I have a lenovo y50 laptop that has Intel and it works flawlessly. I contacted the guy who sold me the PC and am waiting for his response. I thought I could post here too, to find help.

If a intel can go in here, then does anybody know which model? Or do i have to wait for the guys response. I'm fine wither way.

Thanks. Sorry if I didn't give enough info, that's all I got.

I'd be happy to assist you with your question!

Unfortunately since the AMD FX 8320 APU uses a socket AM3+ motherboard you will not be able to swap out this processor for an Intel CPU. If you are looking to go with an Intel CPU you'll have to change out the motherboard for one that is compatible with Core i series processors.

Just be sure to research which CPU and its socket type you would like to use in your build before upgrading your motherboard.

Here's a great reference to use while deciding on those upgrades: http://en.wikipedia.org/...CPU_socket

The first thing that needs to happen is another motherboard before getting a intel processor because the am3+ motherboard that is install is not compatible with intel processors, amd processor don't heat up that much i own about 5 of them never notice it to heat up a room, if i was you wait for the guy response back to you

No usually motherboards can't use both intel cpu and AMD cpu interchangeably unless a new type of motherboard was made that can

You're going to have to replace the motherboard as well, and reinstall your OS, and then yes, you can use an? Intel CPU.

But I'd wait for Broadwell to come out if you're going that route.

1. The gpu produces about 3x the heat of the cpu
2. You can but you will have to buy a new motherboard

Get an aftermarket cooler and place your low end graphics card
