So far, I've been told ASUS, Dell, and Lenovo.
The only brand I've ever used are HP but I've recently been told by someone who works with computer that those are not too good.
If you use windows or know about them, which would you recommend or find have works best?
I repair laptops. The least issues I see are with the Dell. The most problematic are the ASUS'
My wife has a 2010 Dell Inspiron 17 - i3 laptop. It has been problem free. It runs 14 hrs/ day - 7 days/weeks
It is ALWAYS used in a hard surface & the heat exchange is blown out bi-anally. It is still on its original 7 year old battery. Just recently upgraded to W10 & it's purring like a kitten
I have a 2012 Dell XPS 8500 - i7 Desktop which I'm on now same thing Never missed a beat.

Friend get a good Lenovo with a fast processor you will never be disappointed. IBM Motorola Lenovo same thing. Lenovo is rock solid you can go on eBay and find ancient IBM lenovos still working the Outlast and outperform the rest.
Let me recommend the x220 tablet PC off eBay they have them fully slap loaded with 8 gig ram i5 or i7 with or without SSD under $300 the 13 inch machine blazes! You can't get a faster better machine under $600
