I just got a Lenovo G500s laptop and found out that it can stream to a TV with an HDMI cord, so I hooked it up, it made a noise, but nothing happened. When I unplugged the HDMI cable, it made another sound, and again when I hooked it back up, but other than that, nothing happened to the TV or laptop.

Could be 2 or 3 things.
Most likely the resolution being sent to the TV is too high so lower it or the Graphics has not been instructed to output from the HDMI. Some switch automatically some do not

You could read instructions on the TV, or call its support, or Lenovo support to find what settings are good.
