It looks like your jack is 7pin type 3.5 mm jack
that automaticaly turns off the computers internal speakers
when something is plugged in jack

Did you tried plugging it in other devices

Did you plug it into the plug for speakers or headphones instead of for microphones? I know my laptop has two ports and only one works for my headphones
