Why is my gaming laptop running/performing slow?

I have a Lenovo y50 "gaming laptop". I've had it a little over a year. It was made in 2013 I think. I don't remember the exact specs. But if you want to look them up it is the Lenovo Y50 (not the touch screen). The specs were pretty good. I've only played 2 games on it. MineCraft and now H1Z1. I mostly use it for making/editing YouTube vids and Internet browsing. But minecraft runs great on it. But H1Z1 sometimes runs smooth as butter but more times then not, it runs bad and "choppy". Like when I hit the interaction keys (like "tab" and "e") the whole screen/game freezes for a couple seconds. And it's laggy a lot when not hitting those game interaction keys. I've tried putting it on "high performance". By hitting the battery icon and putting it on high performance instead of balanced. And tried playing when there's NO other program running. I'm running the game on high settings. Not ultra settings tho. And it's lagging this bad on high game settings. Don't want to turn them down bc the quality of the game isn't as good. And other settings I can tweak or any suggestions? What do you think is going on? (I'm not a big computer guy in the sense I don't know a lot of computer slang or how to do things "setting" wise without instructions so please help me!) a thanks for the help!

Best graphics card for laptop?

I've fixated on two laptops
1. ASUS G551JX with 2gb Nvidia 950M-16GB RAM-i7 3.6Ghz
2. Lenovo Y50 with 4gb Nvidia 850M- 8GB RAM-i7 3.5Ghz

I can't help but decide which graphics chipset is the better choice.

I want to change the function of my F1-F12 keys?

Alright so my laptop is a newer model on a newer OS (8.1). I have come to the realization that my F1-F12 keys work backwards. When I press the F1 key it mutes my computer as opposed to doing it when I press the FN key. For a while I didn't mind, however, when I got into computer gaming it really started ticking me off. I have to hold the FN button whenever I want to use an ingame bind. This INFURIATES me, I can't even tell you how many guides I have looked on for an answer and no solution has worked. My computer won't allow me to access the Bootup OS setup screen (there's no option to) and I can't use a "One Key Recovery" button because I don't have one. I'm at wit s end, I'm just a few incorrect guides away from taping the d*mn FN button down.
I'm running a Lenovo laptop on an Intel Core i5 (64-bit) with a Windows 8.1 OS

Why won't Ubuntu load the login screen?

I'm trying to run ubuntu off of a flash drive but after the loading screen then it quickly goes to some silver screen then it goes to a black screen with just a cursor. After sitting here for about 5 minutes the cursor disappeared and it's just black. My PC is a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Windows XP 32bit SP3.
