Laptop specifications

I have a lenovo g505s laptop.
It has-
4gb ram
2.1ghz amd a8 quad core turbo boost upto 3.1ghz
1tb hard disk
amd 2gb dedicated graphics card.
I tried playing GTA 4 but it was very laggy. Gta san andreas works perfectly without any lag in full settings. Nfs most wanted(old one) also works smooth but lags in full settings.
My laptop shows 3.2 gb available. Can increasing the ram to 8 gb make it better?
Or is it something else on my laptop which is causing the lag?
Need help.had lots of expectations with my laptop.

A good laptop for college?

I'm starting college in a month and am wondering what's a good laptop I should get? I've read reviews and compared multiple laptops. A lot of my cousins recommend a MacBook Pro with Retina Display, but they're all kind of fanatics for Apple products.
It needs to be able to do the basics needed for a college laptop (MicroSoft Office, decent battery life, and such)

The budget my parents gave me depends on the company. If it's an Apple laptop, they said $1200-$1300 would be the max. If its Windows based they said $800 would be the max.
I'm looking for a laptop that would last me through 4, maybe 5 years of college. It would be my personal laptop for school related things.
Currently I'm debating between the Surface Pro 3, a Lenovo G580, ASUS Transformer T100, MacBook Pro with Retina Display or possibly something else that someone can recommend.
What I'd prefer is something that is lightweight, decent sized screen, good battery life and MUST have a USB port. A disk drive I don't really need. Also I have a Galaxy S3, and will probably upgrade to the OnePlus One phone once it becomes available to the public. For those that don't know, it's an Android based phone. So the laptop needs to be able to be able to transfer files from the phone and back.

MacBook Air vs Update current Lenovo G570?

Hi, I was wondering what people might suggest as far as computers go. I have a Lenovo G570 and my hard drive is about to go. I was looking at still state hard drive, due to the fact that they seem to last longer and are more efficient, but I hadn't realized how expensive they are. I'm debating just giving up on this laptop and going to a MacBook Air because it isn't a huge difference in cost. I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what the best option is between the following: getting a MacBook Air, putting in an old style hard drive to get it to just last me a year before I get a different computer, or to invest in a still hard drive. I really appreciate any opinions and suggestions.

Hybrid College/Gaming Laptop?

I'm looking to buy a laptop for college but also would like to play a good majority of the newer games coming out. (Archeage, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, etc.)
A few laptops i have been looking at are the:
Lenovo Y50, Lenovo Y510p, MSI GE60, etc.

My budget is around $800 - $1000.
Things I'm trying to focus on are: Battery Life, Overheating, no bigger than 16 in. Screen, good graphics card (gtx or sli) and a minimum of 8gb ram. Weight doesn't seem like too much of a problem, neither does the display because i'll be gaming mostly off an HDMI screen. (though a good display would be preferable)

*I do not want to have a laptop and a gaming desktop on the side, I just want a good laptop.

Why won't my computer concept to open networks?

My computer will connect to my personal network at home but not to any of the public hot spots anywhere? What do I need to do?

How to reinstall my touchpad settings?

I recently bought a lenovo gaming laptop without a mouse so to keep playing games i deleted the Elan touchpad setting and now i can't adjust the settings for the touchpad or enable palm check which i desperately need to do now that i have a mouse and started school and need to type lots of assignments. I have lots of important files on my laptop now so resetting it to factory settings will be a pain. Is there an alternative?

Even more additional details: the Model is a Lenovo U530 touch. It runs on windows 8.1 the touchpad settings were under "elan" i guess thats the brand name of the touchpad. I deleted the Elan device settings. I just want to have palm check on. Thats all the info i can think of that is useful if you need anymore info i can respond quickly.

Laptop keyboards lifespan for gaming?

Hey guys so I must say I'm a pc gamer I have a desktop rig and a gaming laptop ( Lenovo y500), I really love the desktop setup but I had to travel for business and expecting to be abroad for a few months, so I'm currently gaming on my laptop in my free time using razer blackwidow ultimate keyboard and CM storm sf-17 laptop stand/cooler, this setup is pretty great except I find the 15" of the laptop a bit far away for my liking, I switched back and forth from external keyboard to laptop keyboard but I'm kinda worried that the laptop keyboard would wear out ( my laptop is out of warranty ) and I do not have access to a replacement keyboard in case something happened.
I know some people will be a bit sarcastic about this but the truth of the matter is I really love to take good care of my stuff so they can last me longer. Especially that I use this laptop for both business and pleasure. The external keyboard I'm using is only 40cm in length so it isn't much of a distance but it still kinda effect me. So after all the explanation my questions are.
- are you a laptop gamer if yes do you use an external keyboard and why?
- are gaming laptops keyboard different from other laptop keyboards for extended durability?
- would you sacrifice a little distance from the screen for a mechanical keyboard experience and to keep your laptop keyboard in new condition?
I would really appreciate some replies, and comments I don't need kinda of like yes or no answer share your experience withme
