I have a new laptop, bought mid last year (Lenovo Ideapad with i3 processor) with the bare minimum installed. My router is providing 40mbps download speed on my PS4 and mobile phone but laptop is getting under 1mbps which is so annoying when streaming. I've tried updating all the drivers with no positive result, please help!

What protocol is the laptop using 802.11 b g n? This could have a lot to do with it. Wireless can be so unreliable which is why ISP won't let you use it to gauge the speed of their connection.

Have you always had this problem with that laptop since you bought it? Have you tried factory resetting it have you tried putting an external USB network adapter on your laptop and see if speeds increase you could have a bad Wi-Fi card these things burn out they cost about $8 you need to do the test and you need to do a factory reset first so that you can have an honest test if the problem persists after that suspect bad Wi-Fi card and either get one off of eBay and put it in yourself or go take it to a shop I work on lenovo's all the time and lenovo's are one of the most stable of all the laptops if you're having a problem it's not natural so do the test that I told you how to do and then get back to me
