Retrieving Microsoft Word documents?

I just got my laptop stolen a few hours ago. On it was saved about 6 months of my hard work that I stupidly did not back up into a flash drive or Google drive. The laptop is a Lenovo U 430 running Windows 8 (i believe) so it made me make a Microsoft account when I first set it up.

I already filed a police report, but I honestly have no hope of getting my laptop back. My question is, is there any possible way for me to retrieve those Microsoft word files? Anyway using that Microsoft account?

I agree Microsoft OFFICE is NOT part of the account. So if you didn't save it ANYWHERE externally then it is gone with the harddrive it was on!

I have a question about opening Libreoffice documents… Just today, my icons for all of the word processed Libre office documents, have a blue Lenovo icon, but I want my Libre office icon back so I can open the file automatically.
