I have a Lenovo laptop, OS Windows 8, RAM 4GB, and graphics card AMD Radeon HD 8570 2GM, and Intel HD Graphics Card.

Yes, W8.1 is a more user friendly. 8.1 enables you to boot directly to the Desktop screen, START button has more options, Arrows to toggle between START & APP Screen, Power & Search Icon in top RH corner of START Screen, and much more.
Be patient, it will take about 2 hour to update. Do not be alarmed if you witness a "black screen" for up to 5 minutes while Windows configures.
