I got a new laptop about 6 months ago and didn't realize at the time of buying it only had about 28 gigs of storage available. It's a Lenovo Ideapad 110s. I like playing games, and I actually have store my games on flashdrives because my laptop hardly has enough storage for The Sims 4. Is there like, anything I can purchase or get installed in my laptop to get more storage on it?
Ways to increase storage space on my laptop?
You might be able to get storage put into your laptop. Or you could by a HDD (hard drive). Its about £70 for a TB. It plugs straight into your pc like a flash drive
Check your RAM also. Playing games requires a lot of RAM space. You can increase your memory by adding RAM chips or swapping out the ones you have for something with more RAM.
You wanted a little cheap laptop, and that is what you have.
Low performance in CPU and Graphics processing, soldered storage, when lucky, a ram slot instead of soldered ram. The storage upgrade is getting the fastest SD card you can find and permanently filling the slot, or as you have found, external USB.
External hard drive -- plugs into USB port like a flash drive
I'm sure you have a Lenovo idea pad with a SSD it should have a place for a physical hd also
You have a 32GB SSD drive in your laptop. I think your best option would be to replace it with a larger Hard drive ie 500GB or 1TB but that is up to you. You will have to clone your 32GB SSD to it. F you decide to go that way email me on here if you need further help
I also think you may have an optical drive fitted. If so you could replace that with a 2.5" hard drive fitted in the space with a caddy
Check your specs to be sure, but it should accept a standard laptop hard drive.
I'd replace it with a Samsung Pro SSD, whatever size you can afford. I put a 2TB in my laptop.
OK, storage is easiest issue to deal but in this case you bought something with the implication that you want portability over extensibility. It is essentially a Chromebook without Chrome OS, and my modified Chromebook outclass that by leaps and bounds.
You are stuck with what you have, eMMC implies soldered in flash chips, mine outclass yours as M.2 but you are stuck, what you were doing with USB finger drive is pretty much the only action you can take.
1) You can buy external hard drives
2) If your laptop has an unused optical drive, you can remove that and install hard drive caddy.
You can fit any 2.5 inch drive in it. Either laptop HDD or SSD.
This is how a hard drive caddy looks (without HDD/SSD).
I too have a Lenova 110S. I need more storage space. What is best? 32 GM usb storage Or a Micro 32GB Micro Mini and leave my USB's free? Any advice? I understand I can direct the Lenova to store items on the 32GG device rather than the hard drive? Correct?
