I want to get a monitor for my laptop, would i need something special for it, what kind of cable would i need?

i not looking for a expensive monitor just something that will help me work better with one more monitor

HDMI sends both video/sound.
VGA sends just video.
I would recommend HDMI, but VGA works as-well
