Windows 7 only detecting monitor as generic non-PnP monitor?

I'm using a ThinkVision L200P monitor with the Radeon HD7950 and whenever I attempt to change the resolution, it's locked on 640x480 and the drop box is faded. Also its not detecting the name of monitor as I said. Is there anyway to override the resolution somehow?

Download the latest version of graphic driver for your AMD card from this link:
http://www.amd.com/...-7950.aspx

Just Install it, Most of your problems will resolve automatically after installing.

If your resolution is still low, then do this:
1. Right-click a blank part of your desktop and choose Screen Resolution.
2. To change the screen resolution, click the Resolution drop-down list and use your mouse to drag the little bar between High and Low.
3. View your display changes by clicking the Apply button. Then click the Keep Changes button to authorize the change.
4. Click OK when you're satisfied.

NOTE:
(i) I recommend connecting the cable(that connects your monitor & CPU) to the graphic card slot instead of normal.
(ii) Sometimes a restart is required for changes to take effect.

Go to the website of the maker of the monitor. They will have a driver that you can download that will give your graphic card the information it needs to identify the monitor. Once loaded you should be able to use all its features.

If that fails, reinstall the diver for the video also.
