Why does Fedora Linux not work? Are the programs lousy or is it just a bad OS?

Fedora install did not install wireless NIC drivers, Synaptics touchpad driver, etc.

Every time I login It does not detect I'm connected to the internet via ethernet; I have to go in and manually configure it to connect.

Does not accept root password from terminal when I type it in after doing su. I even changed the password doing passwd just to make sure I have the correct password. Can't install any drivers using yum as it will not accept my root password. I did write down the root password as I was changing it. Still getting "authentication failures".

There's no onscreen keyboard so my touchscreen is only half functional. If I did not have a touchscreen i'd be dead in the water because the touchpad/mouse does not work.

Fedora install did not detect the 26GB SSD mSata drive as the primary drive. IT detected the 500gb HDD as the primary drive. This laptop came with both preinstalled. Lenovo had a weird setup. The 26GB was being used as a recovery drive not the main drive. IT should of let me select one or the other as primary. I had to manually partition and reconfigure everything.

Added (1). The first time I install fedora it did not setup grub correctly. Everytime I started the computer It was not at the [ … ] login screen. I was stuck at grub> I had to reinstall fedora 2 different times to get it to work correctly, as far as the login stuff goes.

Fedora is written by "purists" for "purists". They don't include non-free software (such as drivers, codecs, etc) in the distro. You have to download them later.

You will find that it's much eaiser to install and use Mint, which does not have hangups like that.

Mint would not install? What on earth kind of weird non-standard machine is this? You did not indicate that your machine was "alien".
