What is the threshold for Laptop replacement?

My Lenovo Y50 was just sent in by BestBuy's geeksquad for repairs. The repair is the headphone jack, which was almost completely destroyed and does not work at all anymore, but the rest of it is pristine. The geek told me that if Lenovo deems my laptop beyond their repair (he said on higher end laptops they tend to do this more often) they will issue me the 1437 dollars I paid for it in store credit a per my warranty and insurance plan.

I want to know how likely it is that my laptop will simply be written off my Lenovo as irreperable. If so, I can get a replacement laptop ACTUALLY worth 1400 dollars.

Laptop won't play games it could before?

I have a Lenovo y50-70 laptop that I got last year and it has worked very well. I've been playing dragon age inquisition and guild wars 2 on it since I got it but now they aren t working. I just updated to Windows 10 but this problem was happening shortly before I updated to it. When I try they both say things about drivers not working or directx not being supported but I could play them both like last week and they were fine. I have nividia GeForce game ready drivers installed and updated and I just reset my laptop to try to fix the problem but they still aren't working. What could this be and how can I fix it?

Gaming Laptop Suggestions?

I have barely any knowledge in what makes a pc or laptop good for gaming, so I wanted to ask here.

There are so many laptops to choose from (I've looked on newegg, bestbuy, etc.) and my main problem is I don't know what brand to choose. The brands I've been looking into are Asus, MSI, Lenovo, Acer, and Dell. The laptops around my price range ($1000 or less) almost all had the nvidia geforce gtx 960m gpu and i7 processors.

I don't know if getting a certain brand will affect the performance in any way, so if anyone can suggest a brand and model for best performance, that would be awesome and so appreciated.

Lag when displaying laptop on monitor?

I recently got a lenovo y40-80 and got rid of my old pc. Everything works fine on the laptop using the laptop screen and is great for travel, but when i'm home I would like to hook it up to my 24'' BenQ monitor, which has a 1ms response time. But when I connect my laptop to the monitor via HDMI, I get a huge frame-rate drop to the point where I can't even watch videos because of the delay between sound and video. I need a bigger screen when editing videos so I need to solve this issue.

Is Apple Macbooks considered the best laptop?

What the hell? I'm currently looking for a laptop for my academics and well, I'm having trouble… Main problem is I'm very picky when it comes to shopping and it can compromise my experience. I looked at all of the reviews of certain laptops that caught my attention and there's that negative flaw with the device that puts a wedge of my interest. Significantly, most reviews always compare the laptop to an Apple laptop! Of course, I should get myself an Apple laptop since it is always commended right? Well no! I just don't want anything Apple related, I find their products and their business practices very problematic and abhorrent. I refused to deal with that ****! Anyway, as my original question states, Is Apple known for creating "great" laptops?
