I had a netbook with 2gb RAM which was just awfull for production but i could still manage, but now i'm getting into heavier production so i bought a Lenovo G50-30 with 4gb ram, but it still kinda distorts after adding alot of instruments which also depends on what instruments i use, i usually use about 8 vst plugins (Nexus) but it still kinda distorts and lags. I'm technically using 2.5gb ram out of the 3.89 usable so would an 8gb ram upgrade be enough as its all the laptop will take, when i can afford ill but an expensive laptop which can take 32 gb Ram but this is all i have for the time being.
Is 8GB RAM enough for music production?

Adding more RAM does not make a computer faster.
you need a better processor.

No. The issue you have is the processor. Even though it is a laptop, it has a netbook processor. The laptop is designed for email, web browsing, basic gaming, office programs and other minimally demanding usage. If you had bought a notebook grade celeron you would be much better off. I use a notebook grade celeron to game, clutch as civilization 5 and serious sam 3. But netbook processors are junk, which is why they are so cheap.

8GB is plenty.
