Some webpage shows up whenever I open Firefox?

I noticed in the past two days some weird website showing as my homepage once I start Firefox although I made my homepage Google.com, This is the webpage that appears when I start Firefox:

http://www.istartsurf.com/?type=sc&ts=1407051863&from=ild&uid=ST500LT012-9WS142_S0V43Q6DXXXXS0V43Q6D

And when I open a new tab, a weird link appears too (although a new tab shouldn't have any link) this is the link:

chrome://quick_start/content/index.html

I just installed Firefox 31.0 hoping the update would fix the problem but it didn't.

If it's some stupid Malware then, can someone please tell me how did it get into my laptop, and where could I find it, and how to remove it.

I have a G580 Lenovo laptop & Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, 4 GB ram

Best laptop brand? Are HPs any good?

What do you think of HPs? I've always preferred Toshiba or Acer, and had good experience with those brands, but all the local stores sell a lot more HP products and they're a lot more affordable.

Are they a reputable/reliable brand?

If the answer is yes, I'll be looking further into reviews of specific models, but I don't want to waste my time.

I use it for university, and personal use like watching movies. No gaming.

(Please don't recommend Macs, they're ridiculously expensive and I don't do anything on them that I couldn't do on a $500 PC. The only reason I need a new one is my last one was stolen.)

Why do some of my games only SOMETIMES run slow?

I recently installed Need for Speed Rivals on my PC and though my PC specs for gaming is pretty decent, the game sometimes runs slower than usual… Lagging occurs pretty rarely, but in general, the game just runs slower than usual (it's like there's a half second delay between the time I push a button on my controller and then see the appropriate response).

There are also times however when I boot up my PC when the game runs perfectly without any of the aforementioned problems.

My specs are as follows:

Lenovo Ideapad Y580
Windows 7 64 bit
Intel i7 @ 2.30 GHz
8 GB RAM
NVidia GeForce GTX 660M

I performed an antivirus scan and ran the defrag several times since and ended several high memory load processes before using the game to see if the performance would improve, but it didn't affect anything in the slightest.

As I said before though, it DOES run perfectly sometimes, but I have no control over knowing when those times are or what's causing the game to slow down during the other times.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Right now I have a Mac air running lion I think, but whAtever that doesn't matter. The computer is ok, it runs what I need it to, but it's really slow and crashes a lot. My birthday is comin up and I was gonna maybe get a new gaming comp. I want to know if these are good specs before I buy, so I hope you guys know.

I'm looking to play games liek tf2, skyrim, CSGO, left 4 dead and other games like that, maybe with the occasional 20 mb game, or the rare 20 gb game. I know I can always add RAM, and I know the i5 processor is ok, I'm just not too sure about the rest. Money isn't a big issue, but I don't wanna spend more than 6 hundred, unless I really need to or I find the right comp.

Good laptop for work.and play?

I need a durable, reliable laptop with these specs but PREFERABLY a little better.
Id also like it to be a lenovo or an HP within the $600-$800 range.
It doesn't have to be a brand new, latest model, but just something with those specs or a little better.
