What laptop would you recommend for college?

I need one with a decent amount of storage, long battery life, and long lasting for the years. What do you like? What were your experiences? As of right now i'm considering the macbook air 11in or the lenovo thinkpad t450.

Can Lenovo S20 30 play high quality 720p and 1080p video files?

I'm thinking about buying the Lenovo S20 30, the one with 500 GB HD, 4GB, no touchscreen). I know the screen is not great and that it is just a netbook. But for movies I want to connect it to my flatscreen via HDMI.

My question:
Is it able to play HD 720p video files without crashing or having other problems?
Is it able to play BlueRay 1080p video files without crashing or having other problems?

My 5 year old laptop was not. Rule of thumb was the bigger the video file the more likely it coulld not play them. Medium quality files no problem. 720p with maybe 800MB for 60 min worked sometimes. Even better quality files never!

Thanks in advance for answers from people who own this exact model and can speak from experience.

How to connect x32 turtle beach headset to a laptop using headset jack?

I'm looking at getting a new computer than I can play video games decently on but the two that I'm looking at (Lenovo Y40 or the Lenovo ThinkPad T450) only have a headphone/mic jack. I'm getting very frustrated on how to connect my X32 turtle beach headphones to a newer laptop because the adapter requires you to connect one cable into a headphone jack and one into a microphone (due to wanting to be able to chat as well) Also, wondering if I wouldn't even need to get a new cable and just use the cables that come with the headphones? Please Help!

Added (1). I'm looking at getting the Lenovo Y40 or the Lenovo ThinkPad T450s. Just wanted to restate that.

Is it safe to use laptop continuously on AC power with battery removed?

I have a Lenovo G50 laptop and I use it on AC power continuously for more than 8 hours, with battery removed. I have inverter backup at home so the lappy doesn't restart on power failure. But I want to know if it is safe to use laptop on AC power with battery removed. Will it damage my laptop's internal parts? Please suggest

What's a good gaming laptop for $1000?

I'm looking for a gaming laptop that can:

1. Run today's games. I'm eyeing especially on GTA V because it would probably be the next game I would be playing. I would like a laptop that can run most games on 1080p60fps settings. I don't plan on 4K gaming.

2. Last for what is considered a "long" time, i.e. Durable. I'm not planning to replace it the next 5 or 7 years.

I would also use it for my schooling. In addition, for video and photo editing but not most of the time.

I'm looking for: at least a 15" screen; a gaming design; dedicated video card preferably a GTX 700 series and up; 8GB RAM; minimum of 500GB HDD; and an optical drive.

So far I've considered the Asus X/N, Dell Vostro, HP 14/Pavilion 15, MSi CX61, GE40, GP40, GP60, Toshiba Qosmio. Not a fan of Lenovo, but could consider one. No Alienware and Omen available for retail here. The best available is a G750 ROG, Blade/Pro and GT72.

Those cost about $500 more here in the PHL. I could literally afford a ROG and MSi GT, but I'm limited to a budget.
