Should I buy the Lenovo or Alienware?

I need a laptop to last me through college and be powerful enough to handle my engineering programs whether it be 3D modeling or aeronautic simulations and such but at the same time I want it to handle my load of games (mostly Steam powered) and I need it to be exceptional performance overall. Two laptops have been recommended to me that seem to fit the needs.
The Lenovo

and the Alienware 17

The Lenovo definitely seems to have the better specs and even at a lower cost, but that's what worries me. Why is the Alienware I'm looking at well above $2,000 and the Lenovo only $1299.99. Is this just more people taking advantage of a well known name and raising the price or is there something I'm missing that makes the Alienware better than the Lenovo. If you find that neither of these two are good to a laptop you know of that is also helpful.

Lenovo Yoga 3 11 or HP Spectre x360?

I'm trying to choose a laptop for school, but having a hard time deciding which one will be better.

Owners or previous owners of one these please tell me the pros and cons you found.

My laptop freezes when I play games despite it being better than my older one, How can I fix that?

I'm using a B50-70 lenovo laptop, it has 6 GB ram and 2GB vga ATI card, it's way better than my old one but it's not running the games anyway better than my old laptop, the graphics are god, but games freeze when something bright or a new part of the map load, some games recover, other crash and other just freeze, I have all my drivers up to date (As far as I'm concerned) and the laptop is fairy new and its mostly empty.

I need help as I can't enjoy anything as much as I thought

University laptop? Which one is best?

So I will be heading off to Uni in a couple of weeks and require a laptop. My two choices are:

Lenovo Y50/70
OR
HP Spectre x360

Both are very different as one is an ultrabook, the other is a laptop. As I have no experience in Uni I don't know which one I will benefit from.
I will study a Computer Science course, for those wondering.
My primary intended use is obviously work, but after that it is anything else to occupy time.

The Lenovo is a powerful gaming/performance laptop. It is able to play the latest titles and perform very difficult tasks with ease (compared to the HP).
The HP on the other hand is light, has a much better keyboard for constant typing, better aesthetics and can convert into a tablet.

Please enlighten me on your experiences and recommendations. Thank you!

Lenovo y70 touch laptop freezing while game play?

Now I've had this problem since the laptop came and i've found multiple people with the same problem. The game (which is every game i play) freezes for like a second every 10-20 seconds and it can become quite frustrating. Now they said its the 1TB hdd with 8 gb ssd which is a sshd. They say it is sending cache between each other causing the pause in the game or program you are using. A program called quiethdd muffles some of the pausing as well but still does it. Now if I were to swap out the sshd with this ssd http://www.amazon.com/...00RQA6M5Y/ would it fix the annoying pausing in all my games.

What type of router is best for a college dorm?

So in August I will be moving into a single college dorm room with pretty bad Wi-Fi. So, I'm thinking about getting a router for my room. I will need to run a lenovo gaming laptop, an iphone, ipad, and a xbox one. Since its just for my room compactability is very important but range isn't a top priority (throughput over range, although more range doesn't hurt). It should to be dual band and preferably 802.11ac, also no antennas (that's not a requirement just a personal preference). I have a Netgear N600 Premium that my parents bought in 2011 that they can give me (they only used it for like 2 months), but i don't know if that router is fast enough given the pace at which technology has advanced.

Some ones i've looked into: Netgear R6300, Asus RT-AC87u, Asus RT-AC68u, and Trednet AC1900 Dual Band.
