Laptop can't connect to internet (nut can connect to wireless) when far from modem. How can I fix this?

I have a lenovo ideapad z570 with intel Wi-Fi link 100 bgn wireless adapter. The problem just started now, and I'm the only one experiencing this problem in my network.

When I'm close to the modem (within 5 meters) my laptop connects without any problems. But when I move farther, I lose Internet connection, but I still stay connected to the wireless network.

My driver is up to date, and I have the same adapter settings with a connected laptop.

I'm clueless, please help!

p.s. Do not suggest things like restarting my laptop or the modem, I already tried all that.

Is it possible to run y510p without the battery?

A friend of mine has a gaming laptop by Acer (forget the name of the make) and he told me he removes the battery and plugs the charger in every time he uses the laptop (to avoid killing his battery). I would like to know if anyone with the y510p laptop from Lenovo has been able to do this as I would also like to avoid killing the battery while gaming as I'm using this as a substitute until I get a desktop. I need this laptop to last me for quite some time.

Added (1). Ok thanks. Dewcoons, I use the battery power saving software when I'm doing work (and most likely, running purely on the battery). However, it ruins my performance in game and overall since it limits the amount of resources used. So I guess I'll continue to run the laptop this way for now.

How much would this laptop cost in India?

Is this laptop a great value for money?
Can it run all recent games at decent frame rates?

My Internet connection keeps dropping every 10 or so minutes, windows 8 laptop?

Doesn't always happen every 10 minutes. Sometimes it will not happen for hours, and then other times it will happen consistently. However, it still says I'm connected to the (wireless) internet? Everyone else in the house is fine, it's just me. Some other times it will say "Limited" connection. I'm using a Lenovo laptop and using BT. This has been going for about a week, maybe more. And I've tried everything.

Is my laptop overheating?

I'm using a lenovo 7510p. I7 4700MQ and GT755M. When I play Battlefield 4 on lowish settings, the game still looks great and my fps is good so I don't think my cpu is throttling or anything, but after a while of playing both my cpu and gpu are around 85c. Is this normal for a gaming laptop or is it overheating? There's no dust in the fans especially because I just got it.

Sound not working on computer?

Yo. I think my comps a window 7 or something, a lenovo thinkpad, quite an old version, but still pretty cool. My sound suddenly stopped working. Not on any music files, youtube, or anything. My sound icon says it's fine, and so does the sound on youtube and stuff. Any advice?
