I need a good laptop for light gaming and schoolwork?

I built my own custom gaming desktop for around $1200 and I'm thinking about selling it and buying a cheap laptop. I've pretty much stopped gaming and I only ever use it for netflix. I would like to buy an cheap but decent laptop for around 700-750$, preferably without integrated graphics. Any recommendations/ideas?

Looking for Similar Laptops for College?

So I'm starting to look for a new computer for college. I need to be cost effective but I want a specific type of laptop that works well.

I really like the Lenovo Yoga 13 Ultrabook because when I take notes I love having the stylus to write with. My aunt has this computer, but I'm concerned about the quality of it and the wireless connector has to work well.

Could someone out there help me by posting links to laptops that have a keyboard and are compatible with a stylus? Also, if you have the computer you post about, could you let me know how well it works (pros AND cons).

Thank you for any help!

What's wrong with my laptop?

I have a Lenovo p500 touch and today all of a sudden my keys on the top row of my keyboard stopped working. These are the keys that can control brightness, volume, and other things. Is there anyway to get them back working?

MY DISK DRIVE IS NOT WORKING! I WANT TO PLAY SIMS?

Ok, so I just want to play sims… So when I put the disk in nothing happens, so then I click on the launcher, I click play ^^^ that pops up (the picture above) Then… I click yes then press play again, then it says no game disk found. It does this every time. I don't think that its my sims disk tho because I used one of my other computer games too and that didn't work, I've tried cd's that didn't work. When I insert a disk nothing happens. And yes I have all of my autoplay settings on and still nothing. I tried updating my driver but that didn't work, I recently uninstalled it haha but don't know how to reinstall it… *sigh* it so frustrating. I swear I have tried everything! So if you have any suggestion Please tell me!

ALSO I have a Lenovo Ideapad… If that helps

Which laptop is best for software engineering, programming and hacking?

I need a strong laptop for educational purposes. I've heard about Toshiba satellites, Alienware and Macbooks. Strong processor, nice graphics is optional, large memory capicity and fast performance.
Thank you.

Added (1). I work especially with C, Python, Assembly and client-side scripting, no iOS apps yet.
The OS I want to work in is Windows or else Linux. I heard alot of cons about Alienware though, don't know if there are true.
Also, I prefer 15'' upon 17'' screen, but that is not the biggest issue. I look for fast performance, 1TB memory, best processor.

My laptop won't connect to the internet?

It keeps switching from, not connected to limited, occasionally I get connected but it lasts about 5 seconds and switches again. I already reset my Wi-Fi thing and it didn't work. My phone and PS3 both are staying connected just fine. I don't know what to do. It's a windows 8 lenovo.

Do thin hard drives work on older laptop models?

This is my first time shopping for hard drives and i'm doing it because the original hard drive on my laptop died and my backup hard drive (taken from an old laptop) might fail as well (given that it's close to a decade old). I wanted to get a 250 to 500 gb hard drive with 7200 rpm but during my search i noticed that most hard drives for laptops are now very thin. But i can't find any information confirming if it'll work on the older models (my model is a lenovo ideapad z560) or if there'll be compatibility issues. I would really appreciate any and all information that can be given to me, thank you in advance!

ps: It would also be great if you could recommend a laptop hard drive brand or model!

What is a good laptop for college and gaming?

I'm graduating this year (from high school) and parents want to get me a laptop for my grad gift. I'm wondering what is a great laptop for college/school related items but can also run main Steam games (tf2, dota 2, left 4 dead 2, etc.). Something that is also highly mobile. So something that has screen sizes of 13 - 15.
