Z50-70 brand new. I tried 2 different headset microphone combos and they both get sound but the laptop won't detect the microphone. They worked on my last laptop so i don't need kind of splitter cables like someone else suggested.
i tried lenovos forums and no one will respond, their website links for driver update downloads are broken, and they won't reply to their facebook page messages
I want to buy a gaming laptop to play the latest games like GTA 5 or need for speed or BF4. I came across a Lenovo laptop with a i7 procossor, 8 GB RAM and 2GB Nvidia GeForce 840M GPU. Is it enough to run these games
Please suggest me some laptops of range rs 40000-50000?

I have a Lenovo y500 that is running windows 8. Whenever I boot it up, it takes a while then says there's something wrong with the drive. Then it says "preparing automatic repair" for a while and eventually goes to a blue screen, from which I'm unable to boot up windows. It used to give me that option, but it never worked anyway. Before this started happening, my hard disk usage was locked at 100% for some reason I could never figure out the the laptop was running unreasonably slow. Last year my laptop's hard drive gave out and I had to have it replaced. This is acting like a different problem but I wonder if it might have the same solution.
Added (1). I tried resetting the laptop to factory and reinstalling windows. It worked for a little while, but when I tried to reboot my laptop, it went back to the same old stuff and continues to not be able to boot up.

The problem is that my laptop, which is windows 8.1, doesn't recognise the usb. I know my usb holes work fine because I connect my phone to it, use wireless mouse and keyboard but this just does not work. This microphone doesn't need or have any drivers to install. If you were to put it in any other computer/laptop it should work automatically. What can I do? I've spent 50 pounds on this and I know its not the microphone s fault!
I have a 256 GB lenovo yoga 3 pro with windows 8.1 installed on it. If I order a second 500 GB drive and physically install the drive, will I be able to boot from a USB drive with linux, and then install that onto my new hard drive?
Added (1). so to be clear, I would have to remove the first hard drive before I can install the new one.
M looking at this Lenovo laptop, it's a core i7 4th generation, FHD display, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, GeForce840M with 4GB dedicated graphics memory, and costs just $1000.
i like it, but it doesn't have a HDD activity LED.
should I get it? Will the lack of the LED be a major problem in future?
I can think of a few situations where i would like the HDD LED--
1>installing Windows, the installer is not responding-- i can check if there's HDD activity.
2>starting/shutting down Windows-- if the startup/shutdown stops responding i can check if there's HDD activity.
3>Windows updates-- if it locks up during an update, i can check if there's disk activity…
But these aren't very common situations.
So what then, shall i get this Lenovo?
I have changed my system to windows 8.1 prof, from windows 7 ultimate and i'm having many difficulties finding proper drivers for my GPU.
official lenovo site provide quite outdated drivers for my gpu and still without Catalyst manager therefore it sux.
Amd site however has the latest drivers but it often makes my laptop crash with a bluescreen.
Standard windows 8.1 drivers are just average cause they doesn't provide much power. On lenovo site drivers on windows 7 i've had for example stable 150 fps on the lowest and 60 fps on highest graphics detal in league of legends and now? On any driver at windows 8.1 on lowest details its lagging with 40 fps going down to even 15 fps.
Does anybody know some website with decent drivers?
