Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 vs MacBook Air (2012 or 2013 model)?

Okay so I desperately need a new laptop for college. I'm a computer science student with a minor in business. I'm looking for a laptop that:
- is very versatile, since most likely I'll be carrying it all around the place
- has a long battery life (6+ hours)
- high resolution screen, so my eyes won't hurt
- DURABLE - most important spec! My laptops break often for some reason… I need a laptop that would last/has a hard cover.

I mostly use my laptop for internet surfing (Google Chrome), uploading pictures and music, watching shows/movies, taking notes, and programming/using photoshop. I don't game or do anything heavy.

Most likely I'm buying a refurbished laptop as well.

Which one would be best?

Lenovo Thinkpad recovery disc - interrupted because battery died? - 1

I recently received my Lenovo Windows 7 recovery discs in the mail (I guess the hard drive had failed and basically the tech support guy on the phone said all my data was lost, which is why I had to recover the operating system). Unfortunately, while I was doing this, my laptop got unplugged and died while it was recovering and now when I hit the F11 key upon restarting the computer, it brings me to a screen with two tabs, one called "boot menu" and the other called "application menu". On the boot menu there are two options, one of which is "ATAPI CDO: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7740H" and the other is "PCI LAN: IBA GE Slot ooC8 v1381". When I hit either one, nothing happens. The same is true for the options on the second tab.

Fix old lenovo charger port and new asus laptop plastic parts?

Added (1). Forgot to add details.

Lenovo laptop is kind of old, got it in 2011. It is a lenovo thinkpad tablet x220 (4298). The yellow charger port is loose or broken because I have to fiddle a lot to even get it charged a bit. I want to know where or how I can get that fixed in addition to getting a new battery. Would prefer a cheap estimate (under $200).

Added (2). My asus laptop is new, got it in 2013. It is from best buy, and the model is the Q550LF. The front part of the optical drive where you push the button is loose and breaking off. The hinge part where the screen attaches is broken (and keeps breaking each time I put the screen down!) and makes the laptop close in a crooked manner. And the sound jack needs to be fiddled with when putting on headphones otherwise it will play sound out loud despite headphones being plugged in.
