Max clockspeed is 2.39 Ghz? But in Properties of my computer it says 2.40 Ghz is the max clock speed?

I use windows 8.1

I was checking my task manager and went to "CPU". It says Maximum Speed is 2.39 Ghz and then I check the properties of "My Computer" and it says the maximum speed is 2.40 Ghz? It wasn't like this until I made an experiment and did the following:

- Window+R (RUN)
- Typed msconfig
- Window appeared name "System Configuration"
- Went to Boot
- Clicked advanced options
- Checked the box "Number of Processors"
- Chose 2 (Cores)
-Restarted my laptop

That is all what I did and now I noticed task manager states that it runs maximum clock speed at 2.39 Ghz.

Here's the System Info:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4000M CPU @ 2.40 Ghz 2.39Ghz

Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB

System Type: 64-Bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch Input is available for this Display.

My laptop is Lenovo G410.

Also another question, how many cores does my laptop's processor have and how to use all of it?

I copied this from my task manager.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4000M CPU @ 2.40GHz

Maximum speed:2.39 GHz
Sockets:1
Cores:1
Logical processors:2
Virtualization:Disabled
Hyper-V support:Yes
L1 cache:64 KB
L2 cache:256 KB
L3 cache:3.0 MB

How to know it's time to get a new laptop?

My Lenovo laptop is starting to have some, what I think are, overheating issues. I got the laptop late '09/early '10.

Sometimes, it would turn on, but the display won't turn on and the screen stays black. Other times, it'll turn on for a second, and I can hear the fan going and everything, but then it'll turn off, while the screen doesn't have enough time to actually start up.

I already know the trick where you disconnect the ac adapter and take out the battery, hold the power button for a minute, reconnect everything, and turn it on. This has worked in the past, but it is starting to become more frequent, and I have to repeat this process 3-5 times to get the laptop to turn on.

Also, just starting today, it started shutting off by itself. In fact, it shut off right before I was writing this question and even WHILE I was writing this question.

I read on Google that maybe the fan needed to be cleaned. So I started unscrewing the screws but a lot of stuff has built up in the screws and it's really hard to get rid of because the screws are pretty small.

Should I take this to geek squad? Is this really an overheating/dust in the fans issue or is it some sort of wiring problem? Is it time to get a new laptop? Let me know your opinions!

Which GPU set-up is better?

I'm currently in the market for a new computer, and I'm tossing around the Lenovo 510y gaming laptop. It has a slot that allows for a second NVIDIA GeForce GT755M GDDR5 2GB GPU for added performance.

I've seen that for about the same price I could also afford different computers with the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 760M 2GB GDDR5 VRAM.

Which set up would be better? I know that the GTX 760m is a higher quality GPU, but would it out perform two GT755Ms?

How long do I have until I have to replace battery?

Right now I just got a notication saying "Consider replacing your battery" and it has a red X on the battery icon. How much longer do I have until I have to replace it? I'm using a Lenovo thinkpad X200 and I have it on power saver mode. I checked the batteries online and they go for $40 but I'm broke so this is why I wanted to know how much longer I got!

Laptop for college engineering?

This fall I will be studying mechanical engineering. The main programs I will use will be Matlab, Mathematica, and some SolidWorks. I will have workstations available for use at school. I bought a Lenovo Y510P and I could not stand the trackpad. Otherwise, the machine's specs were crazy, especially for the money. Now, i'm looking for something with good build quality. I'm looking at the Acer S7-392 with the i7-4500U and 8 GB of RAM. This i7 is only a dual core, but I think it will be more than sufficient for most tasks. The Acer also has the SSDs configured in RAID 0, so I feel as if the Acer will launch applications more quickly than the Lenovo. Do you think the Acer will be powerful enough? I wouldn't mind a laptop with a dedicated graphics card, but nothing seems to compare with the Y510P at anywhere around the same price point. I don't especially like the build quality of other systems like MSI or Sager. Suggestions?
