Don't say switch it on!
I'm not going to be in my own home so i don't want to go onto internet till i get home It's a Lenovo Z710 Laptop.
I want to start off right
Well, I want to start programming, particularly in the video game aspect of it, my passion is to mod games, make mods / hacks for them, and change the game around, so I'll be using a lot of video games.
I know this is shamed in the programming world, but I also have an interest in what you guys call "cracking", really sounds interesting.
Also, if you know which system to go for, I would like your suggestion on the program language to learn with it, for video games and "cracking", I've heard C++ is good, but not good for a starting language. Many people say Python, but are there any opportunities for me to use Python for video games and "cracking"?
So: do I go for a Mac or a PC?
Laptops I'm looking at (suggestions are welcome):
Lenovo Y40: http://shop.lenovo.com/...eries/y40/
Macbook air 11" refurbished: http://store.apple.com/...el-core-i5
Got a new i3, 4gb lenovo. Thinking maybe of investing in giving it 6gb of 8gb. I should note i don't expect to play video games on it. What i use is netflix, vlc, ms word, a chess engine here and there. My question is, can adding ram make me go, "wow, this is a way better computer," or will it be just like, "meh, i guess it's better"?
Added (1). 6gb or 8gb, i mean.
I've had a Lenovo Ideapad P400 Touch for about a year and a half. A few months ago it started having issues holding a charge for longer than about an hour. Just recently it's now even having trouble charging in the first place.
OS is Windows 8.1
I've updated the battery drivers from the Lenovo site.
I'm assuming the connection itself has worn down? My question is what should I do first? Take it into a repair shop? Buy a new battery?
The battery can only be removed by taking the whole thing apart so it's not exactly a simple task.
If I take it in for repair, how much is it likely to cost? Considering the price of the laptop, getting a new one isn't really an option unless the repair is extremely expensive.
Added (1). I've tried a new charger, makes no difference.

So guys, i want to buy a gaming laptop (fyi, this is the laptop: http://www.amazon.com/...00K6ZIO2K/ The max screen resolution is 1920x1080. So, i went to this site https://www.notebookcheck.net/...794.0.html and saw all the benchmarks of the graphics card of the laptop. And many games were not running good in 1920x1080, so i'm thinking of changing the resolution of the games that i'll play in the future to 1366x768 or 1280x720 and more… Will it look really bad? I mean, i understand playing games in eg.1280x720 in a screen that can display max 1280x720 resolution. But will be different if i'm doing the exact same thing but with a 1920x1080 screen?
Thanks for your answers, 10pts to best answer.

I'm an 11 year old girl (with parental supervision), it's Christmas soon (plus my birthday) and I want to find something for my self and my older siblings. I saved 600 dollars from the past year, and I have so many options.
I really want a MacBook Air, to prepare for middle school, as my school has a terribly large amount of computer homework. (Nah, I just want to play video games all night xD My friends have MacBooks, and I just don't want to fall behind.) <<---- Regarding this, what is the average age to get a laptop?
I was browsing imgur and downloading a steam game in the background when my internet status suddenly changed to "limited". I disconnected in an attempt to reconnect, and now my Wi-Fi is broken. The symptoms are;
1) Usually when I turn on Airplane mode, the Wi-Fi option disappears until I turn it back off. That is no longer the case-it is constantly present.
2) The Wi-Fi constantly says "No networks found", regardless of status.
3) Every time I try to turn the Wi-Fi on (by clicking the Wi-Fi tab), it grays out while a swirly dotted circle appears, then switches back to "off" mode
4) My downstairs desktop temporarily got put on limited status, but is now fine.
5) All other Wi-Fi-capable devices in my house work perfectly, including my old, broken toshiba laptop.
6) I ran a total virus scan with avg, making sure to scan all files regardless of type. Nothing came up.
