It's a Lenovo thinkpad t440 and I've only had it since Christmas. I used it last night and it worked fine, I just turned it on today and the screen looked like this. The computer part is still technically functional, like I can still logon and open stuff, etc, but I can't see ANYTHING because the screen stays like this.
I have a question about creating installation media for windows without the discs available. Back in 2011, I purchased a Lenovo x230 laptop, I had wanted to buy an SSD for it for so long, but never really got around to it until now. Unfortunately, I do not have any known way of setting a new OS on the SSD, as the OS on my Lenovo came factory installed, and it doesn't even have an optical drive. Are there any other ways of getting around this and somehow installing a working version of windows perhaps through a thumb drive? There's a recovery partition on my laptop that might include some windows setup files, but I'm not even sure that would work. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
I have a Canon Mp190 Printer/Scanner that worked with my old laptop but I can't get the scanner to work with my new one. The driver was out of date and i downloaded the latest one so it's *supposedly* up-to-date and connected but it's still not being recognised as a scanner by my lenovo laptop? I can print with it and I can view it's device properties etc but there isn't an option to open it up as a device and scan anything?
I definitely need to either get it repaired or just purchase a new charger altogether. Does anyone know which option might be cheaper and quicker? And if I do have to buy a new one, how would I go about doing that? I'm not really sure if I want to get one off of Amazon or anything like that, so would I be able to get it off of the laptop brand s website or something?
My laptop is a Lenovo Ideapad S400 Touch, if anyone was wondering.

So I updated to windows 8.1
But before I did that I read this site:
http://download.lenovo.com/...ex_en.html
So, it gives you a list of programmes/apps you should uninstall before updating because sometimes issues can arise, and then you should download them after the update again
then it says to get the programmes you uninstalled from:
http://www.lenovo.com/...windows8.1.
But I don't know where to find them?
Help!
I uninstalled the following apps/programmes:
- AccuWeather
- Amazon
- Dictionary
- Encyclopaedia Britannica
- fishing joy
- Google chrome
- Kindle
- Lenovo companion
- Lenovo cloud storage by SugarSync
- Live TV
- McAfee Internet Security
- McAfee Security Advisor
- Youcam
So where do I find these now?
Also, if i'm unable to find these, will a factory reset of my computer bring them all back again or are they gone for good?
I know I can get some apps from the windows store, but what about programmes like YouCam?
I'm an engineering student planning to buy a laptop that can handle large engg softwares like ansys or solidworks… I'm confused between same configuratin based dell or idepad lenovo.
Windows 7 Update Causing Boot Failure 17/12/2014?
Added (1). So today (17/12/2014) i was you my Lenovo Z575 Laptop running Windows 7 as usually when the windows automatic update notification popped up, i hit restart now instead of postpone, i wasn't running any intensive applications just google chrome, usually the screen similar to logging off would but instead would display the updates being installed and restart the pc, instead this time it went straight in to restarting
Added (2). when the windows is loading screen appeared the windows logo never appeared and instead froze and went into Windows Start Up Repair, it would say its repaired the problem and thats going to reboot, when it does reboot it just returns to a loop of failing to boot, going to start up repair and restarting, itll load only in Last Know Good Configuration, I used System Restore to a point before the update but till no good, any recommendations would be helpful.
