Looking for a laptop under $500, able to handle video editing software. Advice?

I'm checking out laptops for an associate and want to make sure I'm on the right track.

For video editing, it's good to have four cores, even with hyperthreading on a dual core, and to have fair graphics memory, as well as a high clock speed, correct?

My current consideration is here:

https://www.amazon.com/...01LOV23YE/ (4 cores, 8 hyperthreading, but Win 7 and 2.6ghz at most with turboboost)
https://www.amazon.com/...01GVX0W0C/ (High speed processing)
https://www.amazon.com/...01GKDW634/ (4 cores, good speed, low storage, no webcam)

Opinions? Advice?

I can't open the disc tray on my laptop

I have a Lenovo Ideapad 320, but I'm having difficulty opening the disc tray. Before you ask, yes; there's definitely a disc tray. It is clearly labelled in a diagram of the laptop and the tray is clearly visible at the side. However, an eject/open button for the disc tray is nowhere to be found. The diagram of the laptop clearly shows an eject button, and in a video I watched, the guy had the exact same laptop and it had an eject button. But mine doesn't have one! I've pondered the web for answers but I couldn't find any.

My laptop (LENOVO ideapad 510) no longer plays DVDs - I will explain issue. What should I do?

When I got my laptop, the disk drive worked perfectly, as expected of a new computer.

About five months ago, my laptop's hard drive crashed, and I sent it to Lenovo. The replaced, not wiped, the drive and sent the laptop back. Now, I have noticed several things wrong with it.

The issue in question is this: my laptop no longer plays movies. I put a DVD into the drive on the side and push it in. My computer makes whirring noises for a bit, then the whirring stops and nothing happens.

I checked "This PC" and there's no E drive showing up at all.

I tried installing apps from the Windows store that play movies, but nothing works.

This is all I know.

Movies I put into my laptop won't play anymore. What do I do?

I used to be able to put any disk - movie or video game - into my laptop's disk drive, and it would work; now it doesn't.

I sent the laptop to Lenovo a few weeks ago because of a hard drive crash, to which they replaced with a new drive. Is it possible they could have done something?

If not, how can I fix this issue?

Added (1). I don't get any error messages of any kind. I put a disk in, and it whirs like it's going to do something, then it stops whirring and nothing happens.

Can a / how does an AC Adapter short circuit the power cable/cord?

I had my Lenovo y40-80 laptop to be sent for repairs twice. I had to change the battery and had the motherboard sent overseas for repairs (compliments of the repair guy). The original charger for the laptop also had to be replaced because it wasn't working so I bought a new one.

But once I got my laptop back, I couldn't charge it, so I replaced the power cord (with a HP one, same specs as the current Lenovo power cord) desperately hoping that would fix the problem and it did! So at first I charged it fully; nothing else happened. Gave it a hard reset on it and gave it to my brother shortly after that. Then he used his previous laptop's power cord which was 5A/250V (because mine was broken) and started to use it until there was no more battery. He plugged it in and after 1 hour of charging, the AC Adapter started to make a buzzing sound and stopped working. He then deduced that it was my AC Adapter that was the problem.
The fuse in the my Lenovo power cord wasn't burnt as well. So can I deduct that it didn't burn out?

Question: (In the title). And why does it happen?

Current power cord specs: 3A/250V
Current AC Adapter specs:
Input = 100-240V~1.5A, 50-60Hz
Output = 20V = 4.5A

P.S (a lil' bit of fun) This laptop has been nothing but a bundle of trouble for me; as it it were… Cursed.

Computers keep breaking?

So my computers keep breaking and I'm not sure why. Here's the details.

In the last year and a half, I've gone through 2 laptops. The first one was a cheap HP with an A6 processor and 4GB ram. Had it for about a year, all of a sudden it crashed and automatically shutdown. I was having issues with it, tried to factory reset, and it failed. Took it in to a local computer place and they said it needed a hard drive and I'd have to rebuy windows. Approx. Cost was $250ish so I saved up money and bought a better laptop after about 2 months of no computer.

Laptop 2 was a Lenovo with an A12 processor and 8GB ram, so I was happy with the upgrade. Used it 3 months when it fried… Bad. I tried to boot it up, which took 7 hours, then went to factory reset. It sat at the "start reset" screen for approx. 3 hours and then the reset started. 10 seconds after it started, the reset failed, and the computer restarted. Repeated the process 3 times, with no solution.

I'm curious as to why the computers broke, as I plan to buy another one and don't want the same thing to happen, as I use my laptop often. Any thoughts on why they both failed? I know for a fact neirher had a virus, as I did virus scans often. Please don't say they broke because of what brand they were just because you like a different brand. I'd like actual insight so this doesn't happen again.
