How good are these specs for gaming?

How good are these specs for playing games on the PC. My desktop's stats:

64 Bit
Intel Core i5-4430 @ 3.00 GHZ, 8.0 RAM, Nvidea GeForce GT 630.

Are these at least decent stats for playing games? I bought this Lenovo desktop pc for $700 about a year ago.

Should i get a new laptop or a desktop?

My current laptop is in its last days after 4 1/2 years of heavy use so I'm in the market for a replacement. However I don't know if I want another laptop or a desktop because before I was in school and traveled a bit more and didn't have a smart phone or a tablet but now I have those things and I finished school and I don't travel. I thought about building a desktop as a fun learning experience but I'm not currently in a place in my life to sit down and learn how to build a PC and actually get around to building the PC so I picked which laptop or desktop I would get but I don't know which would be better for me so I want your opinion. Tasks most often done on my computer include Watching YouTube/Netflix/Hulu, Gaming, Programs such as Photoshop/Blender/Unity, Downloading/Listening to music.
