About Me: I'm 18 about to enter college. I require it mostly for web browsing(lots of reading) and everyday use. I would also like gaming capabilities. The laptop won't be used while commuting. Mostly in house. I do not have a desktop at home (i do have a painfully slow laptop). I would like it to last well for atleast 4-5 years!
I have read a lot about how much better OSX is compared to Windows and i really fancy a Macbook and its awesome display. Can the Mac handle games like BF4 at playable settings? Is it worth making the jump to OSX sacrificing Gaming capabilities? Please help!
ALSO: The Macbook(256gb ssd and 8gb ram) is About 500$ (30000rs) more expensive in India.
i would prefer someone who has used both OSes or Preferably both laptops!
Thanks IN ADVANCE!
(and no i can't build a hackintosh though i would love to, no space for a desktop!)
I'm looking for a desktop computer I do mostly web browsing, listening to music and dowlading it, word processing and I do some photography. I don't play much games unless it Face book games. I use a Lenovo ThinkCentre at work and love it so I want too look at one of those but I don't know what I need in it how fast of a processor, how much ram, discrete or dedicated graphics? I want something that will not slow down while multi tasking or doing whatever I need to do on it. I want to spend about 1000 or less and it needs to last about 3-5 years
I have just rescued my old Lenovo Think Centre desktop from the understairs cupboard where it has gathered dust for a couple of years for my son to use in his workshop. It had a legitimate copy of Microsoft Office 2007 in it but when i originally installed that i did not take up the option to save the installation files as i had the disc. I no longer have the disc (or can't find it which is effectively the same thing) and my son has just replaced Win XP pro with Windows 7 and no files were carried forward. Now he did think to burn the Microsoft Office 2007 files to DVD using Nero before he did the o/s change. However, whilst he has all the Office files on the burned disc there are no setup/install files so he can't put the program back in. Maybe he could copy and paste each and everyone of the myriad files making up the program but that would take ages and neither of us have any idea if that would produce a working Office 2007 program again. As you will gather, both he and i are long time computer users but know just enough to do what we do with our computers and nothing more so in real terms are probably not truly computer literate. Have any of you knowledgeable guys out there got any ideas' on how we can get the Office 2007 in and working again?
And I put in disc 1, but all it wants me to do is uninstall and I tried it again and again and again all the same out come?
I own a lenovo computer (not a laptop, just a normal comp) and it was working perfectly about 2 days ago, I left for school, got back, turned it on, and this is where the problems begin, usually, when I start up the comp, it usually skips to enter password to log in etc, but this time, I turned it on, the fan roared up, then fell completely silent, afterwards a screen popped up with three options press TAB to show post screen, press f1 for setup and press f12 for boot menu, I tried them, none of them caused a reaction ( at this point the computer is pretty much stuck on the start up screen with the lenovo logo)
I began to press every single key on the board… Nothing happened, havn't gotten a reaction out of it ever since, is it the computers problem, the keyboards problem? No damn clue, also the fan stops running overall and all I can hear is the hard drive disk/platter spinning and making beeping sounds.
would TOTALLY appreciate some help, thanks.
Have a 3 kva off grid home solar system with inverter that produces 240v 60hz constant power… Do I need a power supply for my desktop lenovo M58P… Don't like adding unnessary electric burden onto my system.
I currently have an OEM Lenovo that I just recently bought from the store.
The following build includes:
Quad Core i5-4430 3.0GHz
Nvidia GTX 650 (Standard)
12 GB of RAM
600 watt power supply (Corsair) CX600

(Everything including the power and PCI ports have been checked and are confirmed to work)
I would like to remove the GPU and replace it with my AMD R7970 GPU.
With the following stats, Will there be any bottlenecking of any sort.
Please only honest answers.
Thanks
Added (1). Yes, the computer is a desktop. Someone mentioned that there wold be bottlenecking, would it be fine to use it as a card and would it still have decent performance?
