Should I get a Lenovo X1 Carbon or Lenovo t440s?

I'm a fan of lenovo and love their computers. I don't have a problem with their recent changes with the trackpad and keyboard. I'm a computer science major and what to get a light and fast laptop to complement my workstation. I'm stuck between choosing the X1 Carbon or the t440s.

Budget - $2000
Preferred Weight- Around 3 lbs. Basically something I can put in my backpack easily and walk for a long period with.

Here is my dilemma, the t440s has really nice keyboards and seems to be durable. However, it weighs around 3.5 lb without the secondary battery. On the other hand, the X1 carbon is thin and light, but has a weird keyboard layout. I'm further concerned by the adaptive keyboard strip which might be a nuisance since I do use the f keys quite a lot, especially programming.

Also, the battery I've heard is great on the t440s while the X1 carbon charges really fast. Furthermore, I think that the X1 Carbon looks awesome whereas the t440s looks pretty plain.

Can a splitter be used to input a mic and headphones into a single jack originally meant for both?

This is a confusing question:

Basically, I have a laptop that has a single jack/port meant for both a mic and a headset. However, the headphones/mic head-set I have has two separate cords.

I've been looking on amazon for a way to input these two cords into an adapter that outputs a single jack, so that I'm able to plug it into my computer to use both parts of my headset.
I wanted a cheap option, and I was wondering if it was possible to use a splitter meant for two headphones, since the place it is plugging into in the computer was originally intended for a mic and a headset?

P.S. And maybe check if my fall-back plan will work either? I don't want to resort to it, only to find out it doesn't work either haha.

What the laptop jack looks like:

What my headset jacks look like:

My fallback plan if this doesn't work:

Thank to all those that help!
P.S.S. This is for LoL!

My Lenovo laptop won't stay connected to the internet?

I have a Lenovo G500 with Windows 8. My laptop would stay connected to the internet for 10 minutes or so but would drop connection frequently for up to 20 minutes. I have changed my static IP address to a dynamic one but yet no change.

When I run troubleshoot it may fix the problem but the problems would reoccur or the problems would go away on their own and reconnect to the internet on its own.

When I run troubleshoot these are the most common things it comes up with (in order) are:

1.Default gateway is not available.
2. Ethernet cable may be broken or unplugged.
3. A network cable may be broken or unplugged.
4. Wi-Fi does not have valid IP
5. Windows can't connect to hidden network.

Computer making a squirting noise?

I have a Lenovo y580 laptop. Every few minutes it will make a noise that sounds similar to the squirting noise your stomach makes when it's digesting or whatever. It's coming from the right side of my laptop near the disk drive. (there's no disk in it)

Also, I just recently took it apart and cleaned the dust from the fan. Maybe I disturbed something? It's running fine, it's just strange and annoying.

My windows 8 levono laptop won't boot up?

My laptop was working fine but then suddenly, a window popped up saying "windows encountered an error and needs to restart". Ever since I've restarted it, it hasn't been booting up. At first it would just freeze at the levono load screen, but now it will just display a black screen and then at some point, shut down. I've tried every option I've had. I tried System restore, Safe mode, Bios setup and all it does is just freeze at that black screen. I also have a lot of really important files on that computer that I can't replace. What do I do? How can I get my files back?

How to delete a user from my computer?

My dad recently gave me his touchscreen Lenovo laptop, complete with the newest 8.1 Windows. I have absolutely no clue how to use this thing! My issue is that I want to create my own user and delete his, or replace his with my info such as my sign on name and email. I have no clue how to change or delete it. Any clues or help would be greatly appreciated! If I can't do that, can I take it somewhere like best buy or some place like that where they can fix it for me?
