Should i buy a lenovo y510p?

I heard that it had been having problems connecting to Wi-Fi. I'm trying to find a good gaming/entertainment laptop with a sleek design thats also good for schoolwork. I was thinking about the Samsung ATIV book 8 but i don't think it can handle games well? Anyways, my problem is that is the lenovo worth it considering all the Wi-Fi problems i've been hearing about it?

Why won't my 64 bit computer will not run 64 bit games?

I have lenovo y580 laptop with Windows 7, 64 bit, but for some reason I can't run 64 bit games.

I first discovered this problem while I was trying to play the new Everquest game: Landmark.

The download and install goes fine but when I press play the.exe opens for about a second and then closes.

I searched through the forums and everyone said that if the.exe is failing like that, it is because you have a 32 bit operating system, which I do not.

I contacted customer support and they could not find the problem so I was stuck. After many hours of trying different things I finally gave up.

I recently downloaded another game and when I open the launcher it has a check box to select if you wish to use a 64 bit client. The box was already selected so I closed the options and pressed play.

The.exe opens for a second then closed. Just like landmark did.

I opened the launcher again to see if it worked if I unchecked the box to use a 64 bit client and the.exe opened fine and I could play the game.

I'm confused why my 64 bit computer refuses to run 64 bit games? Anyone else ever have this problem?

Good Gaming and school work laptop?

So I'm going into highschool next year, and one of the things I'll definitely is a laptop. However, I also really love to play video games, so I was looking to buy a laptop that is really good for gaming, but it has to be better at school work. Also, I'd like it to be around 1000$ or less, and my parents won't let me get a laptop that is called a "gaming" laptop, because they'd think is only use it for games, so I'd want one that isn't a "gaming" laptop, but I can still play games like: mine craft, TF2, League of Legends, etc. I currently have a low grade asus laptop, but I'm looking to get rid of it because it is slow, lots of popups, and lots of issues with things I'd like to do. I've had it for 2 years.

Why does Fedora Linux not work? Are the programs lousy or is it just a bad OS?

Fedora install did not install wireless NIC drivers, Synaptics touchpad driver, etc.

Every time I login It does not detect I'm connected to the internet via ethernet; I have to go in and manually configure it to connect.

Does not accept root password from terminal when I type it in after doing su. I even changed the password doing passwd just to make sure I have the correct password. Can't install any drivers using yum as it will not accept my root password. I did write down the root password as I was changing it. Still getting "authentication failures".

There's no onscreen keyboard so my touchscreen is only half functional. If I did not have a touchscreen i'd be dead in the water because the touchpad/mouse does not work.

Fedora install did not detect the 26GB SSD mSata drive as the primary drive. IT detected the 500gb HDD as the primary drive. This laptop came with both preinstalled. Lenovo had a weird setup. The 26GB was being used as a recovery drive not the main drive. IT should of let me select one or the other as primary. I had to manually partition and reconfigure everything.

Added (1). The first time I install fedora it did not setup grub correctly. Everytime I started the computer It was not at the [ … ] login screen. I was stuck at grub> I had to reinstall fedora 2 different times to get it to work correctly, as far as the login stuff goes.

Upgrade to Windows 8.1 worth it?

My Lenovo B490 laptop came with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit installed (bought it sometime in June 2013) and I haven't yet upgraded to Windows 8.1 (a combination of "too busy" and "too lazy" LoL)… I'm thinking of upgrading from Windows Store soon… What improvements does Windows 8.1 have over 8 and is the upgrade worth it? Or should I wait a little while longer like my friends say for Microsoft to work out some issues in Windows 8.1?
