Can't un-dim my Lenovo p500 monitor brightness?

This happened randomly after a month of having this thing as well (This laptop is horrible by the way), but this time i was using it and my ferret jumped on the keyboard and the screen got dim, and of course same as before, the brightness adjuster did nothing to brighten it.

Last time i just took it in since i still had 1 month warranty, but this time i wanted to see if there was a way i personally could fix this without having to take it in? I've noticed other people have had the same problem, and i did the exact same thing they did to fix it, but still nothing happened.

Any idea what this is and how to fix it? This is my laptop for work and i really need this fixed soon. Hope to hear something that works!

Does a lenovo y510p have sli automaticky enabled?

So I have a lenovo y510p and I was wondering if sli is automaticky enabled or do I have to manually turn it on, I notice a lot of people saying how hot it gets and it hasn't for me so it leads me to think sli is off and I've never done anything in the settings (to turn it on or otherwise) so is it on and I'm just lucky or do I have to enable it

Ps. I have windows 8

How to boot a Linux distro from a usb drive? (distro already installed on usb)?

I'm currently running windows 7 and I've downloaded the Kali Linux.iso onto an 8gb flash drive using pendrive. I assume the distro installed correctly, but when I disrupt the normal startup to enter bios and adjust the boot order I don't think I see the flashdrive (I see something that says usb disc and usb fdd but when I moved those things to the top of the list windows started normally, so I restored the boot order to the original.)

Does this mean my computer is not capable of booting from a usb, or is there a way to check this? Is there something else I should be looking for in the boot order or in bios? I have a Lenovo thinkpad e545, if this helps at all.

Thank you for the help, it's much appreciated!

Added (1). It was under a different category under the main startup page, but nice try

Help deciding between a Lenovo or Asus gaming computer, please?

I've narrowed down my search to two laptops that I'm considering for my next laptop. Mainly will be used for gaming. I don't play games that need an immense amount of power (Day of Defeat: source and CS: GO), but I would like to invest in a laptop that would be capable to handle games such as Skyrim and Battlefield on higher settings. Could anyone give me recommendations for between these two laptops? Reviews seem pretty decent for both (major prob with Lenovo seems to be overhearting but I was prepared to purchase a cooling mat)

An help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

What brand ultrabook to get?

My brother is trying to get me to get an Asus, but I don't know. The Asus laptops are rather capable, however the size and weight of them really make me think twice. The price is good with Asus, but the outer design of the laptops make me hesitate. They're not what you would call "stunning" in design.
On the other hand, Sony Vaios seems to be stunning, yet rather expensive if I want one in par with the Asus' performance.
I've had rather bad experiences with Lenovo in the past so that's making me lean away from them, but are their ultrabooks good? I bought a Lenovo Laptop a couple of years for over $1200 and I really regret it. The performance was terrible and the trackpad is horrendous. Also the screen really drains your eyes. But i was wondering if Lenovo fixed those problems in the past years? Are the Yoga Pads any good?

How to do a system restore if my drive is corrupted?

I'm using a Lenovo ideapad and i want to do the system restore, but every time it restarts after i choose to restore it, it says that the system restore did not work because my drive is corrupted or something of that nature. I tried restoring it using safe mode and that did not work at all. I have a recovery program from geeksquad in this flash drive they gave me; i put it in my laptop but it doesn't do anything except show the files, so i restarted my laptop seeing if it would detect the program then, but it just started up normally.

I ran Avast boot scan and now my computer won't turn on?

Last night i went to bed, but before I did I decided to run a boot scan with avast. I woke up the today and now the laptop won't turn on. Its not the display, the power button does not work. The outlet is ok, the charging light is on. I'm at a loss as to what to do when it simply won't turn on. Please help me. It's a Lenovo Ideapad running window 8 if that helps.
